From protecting homes and businesses to maintaining critical infrastructure, Local 142 sets the standard for quality and reliability in the roofing and waterproofing industry.
Roofers use a wide range of products and application techniques for applying hot asphalt, rubber (EDPM & Hypalon), thermos plastics systems, torch applied modified bitumen, and cold applied systems. In addition, they install insulation and gravel and work with slate, cement and clay tile and shingles. Waterproofers apply materials to plaza decks and building foundations to keep moisture out.
The term for the apprenticeship is 3 years. The apprentice attends class 144 hours per year. On-the-job training totals 4,800 hours over the course of the apprenticeship. The apprentices will receive increment wage rate increases based on a percentage of the journeyworker rate, beginning at approximately 60% of journeyworker’s pay.
